Expected Outputs/Results
The main output expected of IYM is to initiate processes that advance
the development of mountain communities, which varies depending on the
level of implementation either on global, regional, national and local
dimension.
National Level
- Developed guidelines and appropriate policies for sustainable
mountain development and conservation and for implementation on a
number of countries.
- Developed training material and curricula on mountain related issues
widely used and integrated into the educational programs of schools,
universities sport clubs, tourism organizations, etc.
- In placed national committees to monitor implementation of
sustainable mountain development at the national level such as the
launching of IYM by the DENR through its bureau, Forest Management
Bureau, on February 14, 2002 including various activities planned for
implementation for the year.
Local Level
- Increased number of local initiatives and operational activities
targeting mountain development, reasonable resource use, income
generation and improvement of livelihood opportunities particularly
for indigenous people and to low-income groups and women.
- Placement of a successful mechanism for local empowerment and
participatory approaches in mountain resource utilization.
