IYM Partners

IYM provides facets/avenues which various sectors or stakeholders can be involved with in a strong, cooperative and interactive approach focusing tasks into and within a common framework.

Global network of agencies are interacting in the pursuit of successful implementation of IYM such as:

• FAO as the lead agency for IYM
• Other key agencies such as UNESCO, UNEP, UNDP and the United Nations University
• The inter-Agency Group on Mountains, a mix of UN Agencies, bilateral donors NGOs providing conceptual guidance and advice: which enjoy strong ties with local communities in mountain areas will promote implementation and translation of local sustainable development strategies and research institutions in raising awareness on the global importance of mountain services.
• The Mountain Forum Network, which provides mutual support, information sharing and advocacy for mountain peoples and environments.
• National Committees: national governments plays important role in sustainable mountain developments and help implement focused national level activities and lead observance of IYM.
