The Mindanao Baptist Rural Life Center
(MBRLC) is a non-profit, private development organization with public concern.
Its base project is a 19-ha demonstration center, which hosts over 20,000
visitors but has several satellite projects throughout the southern
Philippines. Out of a total of 120 staff, over half are working in
in-village development programs.
The MBRLC is the originator of Sloping
Agricultural Land Technology (SALT) and its modifications, Food Always In
The Home (FAITH) gardening, and other sustainable farming schemes.
It also conducts training on community development, extension strategies
and techniques, primary health care, and moral values.
The
specific objectives of the MBRLC are:
-
To
research and develop appropriate farming technologies, systems, crops
and livestock that will help Filipino farmers increase and sustain
their production and income;
-
To
extend these farming schemes proven to be sustainable to upland
farmers, especially tribal groups on Mindanao and throughout the
Philippines;
-
To
educate and train farmers and farm families in sustainable farming
technologies, primary health care, and Christian living; and
-
To
enable people to understand that God loves them and that He has a purpose
and plan for their lives.
