PHILIPPINE REVIVAL IS MORE THAN A DREAM

by Richard Denny, Regional Director, Pacific Region

The Philippines are ablaze with revival. More than 1,600 people received the Holy Ghost for the first time in five crusades.

The crusade started in Davao City. In Davao eighty-one people were filled with the Holy Ghost for the first time.

Cebu City was a successful crusade in several respects. First, seventy-one people received the Holy Ghost. Second, there seemed to be a greater spirit of unity between the brethren.

The Bacolod crusade witnessed sixty-one new souls receiving the Holy Ghost. The brethren did a great job organizing this crusade, which was held simultaneously with the West Visayan Sectional Conference. Although rain came in sheets, the extreme weather did not dampen the revival fires in Baguio. A total of 209 people were filled with the Holy Ghost. The last service was overwhelming as more than 700 people made their way to the altar. It was incredible!

The Manila crusade was almost beyond description. About 3,000 people were praying for the Holy Ghost in the Manila crusade. A Philippine pastor was so overwhelmed by the sight that he said over the public address system, " How can we minister to all of you?" God did it, and the crusade team watched in awe as more than 1,000 pople were filled with the Holy Ghost as the Spirit of God swept through the coliseum.

The Philippine church is doing well. It has good leadership, yet they continue to appreciate the involvement of the North American church because of the magnitude of the responsibility. Without question, one of the greatest revivals in the history of the United Pentecostal Church International is in the making in the Philippine Islands. The church structure that is in place, the training programs, and the receptivity of the people to the gospel are the foundation for a tremendous revival yet to come.
